Our Journey
Bereshith is a non-profit organization registered with the Department of Social Development since June 2019, although we have been active in social upliftment since May 2016. We are also a registered Public Benefit Organization (PBO) with SARS in South Africa, which means that contributions to Bereshith are tax deductible. Our PBO number is 9650473185.
Our experience has shown that when a person completes the 6-week detox and step work classes in a rehab facility, they often face challenges such as homelessness, lack of support structures, unemployment, and inadequate skills to secure a job. While the first 4 steps of the 12-step program are covered during the rehab period, we believe that further support is needed to help individuals maintain their sobriety.
At Bereshith, we have developed a comprehensive program that complements the recovery process by guiding individuals through the remaining 8 steps of the 12-step program and providing upskilling opportunities in their areas of strength. We believe that this approach increases the likelihood of long-term success for individuals in recovery.
